Cotton canvas frame with cardboard collage technique
Size: 40 x 50 cm (Height/Width)With this vertical form, I attempt to represent the essence of humanity, a figure emerging from the plane like a contemporary totem. The stepped silhouette, with its upper section suggesting a head and the lower vertical lines evoking legs or roots, establishes a dialogue between the organic and the geometric. The stark black against the beige of the support creates a powerful presence. Here, form is an existential affirmation, a being that rises in space claiming its verticality, its status as an entity that defies gravity. This piece embodies my concept of artwork as a sign. It does not represent humankind, but rather evokes it through economy of means: a few stepped planes suffice to suggest torso, head, and limbs. The void surrounding the form is as eloquent as the material itself; together they construct calm amidst the chaos of daily life, where the ancestral memory of all the vertical figures that humankind has erected resides. Those parallel lines at the base function as roots or foundations, anchoring the figure to an earthly reality while the rest rises towards the spiritual.
