Curated by Adam Mbengue Joy is a very dynamic intersection of global cultures. It brings together four very talented and very distinct artists. Ranjit Sarkar, Sreya Gupta, Bruno Angel and Tania Collazos. Each one brings a very different and very personal understanding of joy to the collection, and together they create something that feels very complete and very alive.

Ranjit Sarkar’s works document traditional Indian dance forms such as Ghoomar. He transforms movement into very rhythm filled compositions that feel both very historical and very alive at the same time. There is a very strong sense of cultural pride in his paintings, and they carry a joyful, energetic quality that is hard to ignore. His work feels like it is always in motion even when it is completely still. Sreya Gupta’s Spectrum of Beauty series introduces a very beautiful botanical vibrance to the collection. She uses nature as a powerful metaphor for growth, optimism, and the enduring human spirit. Her compositions feel very fresh and alive, and they carry a gentle yet uplifting energy. There is a very strong sense of hope in everything she creates and it comes through very clearly in the way she uses colour and form. Her work adds a very important layer of warmth and natural beauty to the collection.

Bruno Angel brings a bold, urban pulse to the collection. His expressive and very animated works capture contemporary connection through very vivid colour and very dynamic form. His compositions feel very immediate and energetic, and they carry a strong, joyful urban energy that is very exciting to be around. There is a very real liveliness in everything he creates and it adds a very powerful and very contemporary dimension to the collection that feels very relevant and very fresh.

Tania Collazos adds a very beautiful layer of magical realism to the collection through her Alquimia Viva series. Her tropical and underwater worlds become very symbolic spaces of transformation and wonder. Her work feels very dreamlike and very alive at the same time. There is a very strong sense of magic in everything she creates, and it draws you in deeply and immediately. She brings a unique, imaginative voice to the collection, making the entire narrative feel rich and expansive.

Together these four artists create what feels like a very real Collision Theory of cultures.
