The Sacred Pichwai Collection

Meera Desai Curated by Meera Desai

Pichwai is one of India's most revered art forms, rooted in over 400 years of deep devotional practice. It originated in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, where these very intricate paintings were traditionally created as sacred backdrops for Shrinathji, the child form of Lord Krishna.
At Elisium Art, we call this a Pichwai Collection not only because of its origin but because of its authenticity and intention. Each artwork remains very deeply connected to the philosophy, symbolism and storytelling that define Pichwai. It is this very spiritual and cultural essence, preserved through traditional techniques and iconography, that gives the collection its strong identity.

“Where faith, tradition, and fine detail unite - the enduring essence of Pichwai.”

Pichwai paintings are very real visual expressions of devotion. Every single detail carries meaning. Lotus motifs symbolise purity. Cows represent abundance. Seasonal scenes reflect temple rituals and festivals. These elements come together to create artworks that are both very meditative and very richly narrative at the same time.

This curated collection brings together works by four very skilled and dedicated master artists. Naveen Soni, Arun Sharma, Deepak Sharma and Dhiraj Kumar. Each one of them carries forward generations of very deep knowledge from Nathdwara’s ateliers.Naveen Soni brings a very strong command of the traditional Pichwai language. His work reflects a very deep understanding of the iconography and symbolism that define this art form. Every detail in his paintings feels intentional and very carefully considered.

Arun Sharma’s work carries a very quiet devotional energy. His compositions feel very balanced and very spiritually grounded. There is a very strong sense of discipline and respect for tradition in everything he creates, and it shows very clearly in the final work.

Deepak Sharma brings a very refined and precise craftsmanship to the collection. His paintings reflect years of very dedicated practice and a very deep connection to the Nathdwara tradition. His work feels both very classical and very alive at the same time.

Dhiraj Kumar adds a very rich and layered quality to the collection. His compositions are very detailed and carry a very strong narrative depth. His work reflects a very genuine love for the art form and a very real commitment to keeping its essence completely intact.

Together, these four artists carry forward a very important artistic legacy with a very strong sense of responsibility and deep respect. Their practice reflects not just technical skill but a very genuine and lifelong connection to the tradition they represent.

The Pichwai Collection is not just about preserving an art form. It is about continuing its very important story. It offers collectors a very real connection to Indian cultural heritage, spiritual depth and timeless artistry reinterpreted very thoughtfully for today’s world.

Customer Testimonials

Well, I wanted to tell you that I was traveling, and when I got back, I didn't know where to hang the artwork. After thinking about it for a long time, I decided on a spot. And well, Once it was there, I realized two things: That the painting is truly beautiful and that the location didn't matter so much; any place is a good place for it. Seriously, the artwork is beautiful.

I smile every single one of the 54 times I pass by the paintings during the day. I never imagined art had such power. I feel so grateful to have these works in my home, and I hope art continues to brighten many more homes.
