Mauro Bustos Serrano is a Colombian artist known for his expressive and evocative works. His artistic journey, spanning 15 years, is characterized by a deep exploration of themes such as identity, memory, and the human condition. Inspired by the raw emotionality of Expressionism, Bustos Serrano utilizes vivid colors, dynamic compositions, and gestural brushstrokes to convey complex narratives and emotions within his art.
Bustos Serrano's artistic foundation was laid at the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP) in São Paulo, Brazil, where he honed his skills in figurative art and clay modeling. Furthering his artistic pursuits, he participated in a book art course with Juan Carlos Romero and Carla Rey, and gained experience in the art world working at the prestigious ARTEBA fair in Buenos Aires. His educational background in advertising, communication, and marketing from the Politécnico Grancolombiano further informs his multidisciplinary approach to artistic expression. He continued to engage with the art community, notably coordinating exhibitions in Bogotá.
Throughout his career, Bustos Serrano has garnered recognition for his innovative artistic practice. His work has been showcased internationally, including exhibitions and publications in countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Poland, South Korea, and Canada. His art has been featured in notable publications like *Árbol invertido* and *Ouroboros Literary Magazine,* solidifying his presence within the contemporary art scene. His commitment to his craft is further evidenced by his participation in art fairs and his selection for portfolio reviews, including one with curator Susana Quintero for the Imagen Regional 10 program. He has also contributed to initiatives such as the Latin American Census of Contemporary Visual Art.
