Kolumba alberga y exhibe una colección de pinturas, dibujos, grabados, esculturas, artes decorativas e iconos religiosos desde la Antigüedad tardía hasta obras contemporáneas, y es uno de los museos más antiguos de Colonia. El museo presenta una selección de sus fondos que cambia periódicamente. Kolumba también fue galardonado como Museo del Año en 2013. Entre las obras más destacadas del museo se encuentran una colección de rosarios, la Virgen con la Violeta de Stefan Lochner (anterior a 1450), el Santuario de Paul Thek (1969), la Tragedia civile de Jannis Kounellis (1975) y más.
