La colección del MIA exhibe obras maestras de artefactos y arte islámico desde el siglo VII hasta el siglo XX, incluyendo manuscritos, orfebrería, cerámica, joyería, ebanistería, textiles, monedas, piedras preciosas y vidrio. El museo también posee una página del Corán Azul, un manuscrito teñido de índigo creado hace más de 1000 años, uno de los más elaborados del mundo, y la obra "Tapiz de seda que representa la historia de Leila y Majnun", de un artista iraní desconocido del siglo XVI.
