Taslim Jamal Makrani, embarks on an artistic journey rooted in Partapur, a small town near Rajasthan's Banswara district. The tribal heritage and culture of Banswara profoundly influence her life and imagination, shaping her thinking with their simple yet expressive artistic and communication forms. A postgraduate in fine arts, Taslim pursues art not as a hobby, but as the soul dream of her life, determined to establish herself as a contemporary artist with a distinctive imaginative style.
Her artistic practice encompasses diverse mediums including acrylic, oil, charcoal, ink, and various print techniques such as collograph, etching, and woodcut. With approximately 500 completed works in these mediums, Taslim also possesses over 5,000 imaginative drawings awaiting expression. Her creative output often stems from a semi-conscious state of mind, deeply influenced by the simplicity of her surroundings. Her "Dreamland" series, a new expression, features figures instantly depicted as they emerge in her mind, revealing the "Taslim" hidden deep within her soul.
Taslim's prolific career is underscored by significant national and international recognition. She is a nationally awarded painter, having received the AIFACS National Award in 2019. Her accolades also include multiple Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation awards, such as the Gold Award in 2018 and the City Award in 2017, along with the Kalanand State Award in 2016. Further recognition includes a National Award from "WE" Indian Contemporary Woman Artist Group in Chandigarh in 2017, and State Art Awards from Aakrati Kala Sansthan, Bhilwara, in 2014, and the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy in Jaipur in 2012. Her commitment to artistic development was also supported by a Lalit Kala Academy National Scholarship in 2019.
Her artistic presence extends globally through participation in numerous national and international art camps, including an International Art Camp organized by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy in 2019 and a National Woman's Art Camp by National Lalit Kala Academy Delhi in 2021. Taslim's works have been showcased in international art exhibitions, notably in Kuwait in 2014 and 2015. Her art is held in many private collections both in India and abroad.
