Samba Prasad Biswas is a contemporary Indian artist specializing in abstract painting. His work, spanning 14 years, draws inspiration from the vibrant colors and textures of his surroundings, translating emotional experiences and observations into dynamic compositions. He explores themes of nature, spirituality, and the human condition, using bold brushstrokes and a rich palette to create evocative and thought-provoking pieces. His artistic vision is driven by a desire to communicate complex emotions and ideas through non-representational forms.
Biswas's formal art education began at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, where he earned both his BVA (Painting) with First Class Honours in 2007 and his MFA (Painting) with First Class Honours in 2009, securing the top positions in both cases. His academic excellence was further cemented with a B.Ed. (First Class) from the same university in 2015. His professional career commenced in 2010 as an art teacher at a government-sponsored institution under the West Bengal government, a position he currently holds. This role allows him to nurture young artistic talents while simultaneously pursuing his own creative endeavours.
Throughout his career, Biswas has garnered recognition for his artistic contributions. His accomplishments include receiving the Rabindra Bharati University Gold Medal in Painting, the Bhunath Mukherjee Memorial Award, and the Nirode Baran Memorial Award in 2010. He was also awarded the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation State Award & Fellowship in Painting in 2019 and the Bangiya Kala Pratistha Award in 2022. These accolades, among others, highlight his dedication to his craft and his impactful presence within the art community.
