Karishma Wadhwa is a contemporary Indian artist known for her vibrant abstract and expressionist paintings. Her work, spanning over 12 years, explores themes of emotion, energy, and the human experience, drawing inspiration from both the inner world and the external environment. Wadhwa's dynamic compositions often feature bold colors, gestural brushstrokes, and layered textures, creating a visual language that resonates with viewers on a visceral level. Her art seeks to evoke a sense of movement and dynamism, capturing the essence of fleeting moments and the ever-changing nature of reality.
Wadhwa's artistic foundation is rooted in her formal education. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Arts from Chennai University and a Diploma from The Institute of Fine Arts, Chennai. Furthering her creative pursuits, she also earned a Diploma in Fashion Design from INIFD, certified by the Institute di Moda Burgo, Italy. This diverse background has enriched her artistic vision, allowing her to explore the interplay between form, color, and composition in unique and innovative ways. Her early career involved experimenting with various styles and mediums, gradually developing her signature abstract expressionist approach.
Throughout her career, Wadhwa has garnered recognition and acclaim for her artistic contributions. In 2019, she was honored with the "Outstanding Art Display" award at the Mumbai Art Fair, selected from over 300 participating artists. She further received the Royal Talens award for Watercolors in the Netherlands in 2020. In 2023, she participated in ArtDom, a collaborative project between UK and Indian artists, further solidifying her presence on the international art scene.
