Harriet Payer

Harriet Payer is a German-born visual artist with 18 years of experience in the multimedia art world. As co-founder of Jaapkore, a creative duo established in Mexico City in 2007, she merges photography and video with abstract, impressionistic, and fine art influences.

Payer's visual artistry is integral to Jaapkore's multimedia performances, which combine music, poetry, and video. Her dynamic visuals, created using software like Modul8, often feature improvised, unedited content drawn from contemporary urban Mexican life.

Constantly evolving her creative process, Payer utilizes cutting-edge technology to develop unique abstract and impressionistic visuals. Her work has been exhibited in prestigious venues internationally, including the Venice Biennale, FILE Electronic Language International Festival, and galleries across Europe and the Americas.

Harriet Payer

Harriet Payer is a German-born multimedia artist known for her abstract and impressionistic explorations of fine art through photo, video, and digital manipulation. Inspired by the vibrant energy of contemporary urban life, particularly in Mexico City, her work often integrates improvisation and technology to create unique, non-repeatable pieces. This artistic journey, spanning over 18 years, involves a dynamic interplay between visual and sonic elements, pushing the boundaries of traditional artistic expression.

Payer studied photo and video from 2005 to the present, honing her skills in various digital platforms like CorelDRAW, Final Cut, Photoshop, MotionDive, and Modul8. Her expertise in these tools allows her to translate her artistic vision into compelling visual narratives. Alongside her partner, Jorge Esquivelzeta, they founded the multimedia duo Jaapkore in Mexico City in 2007. This collaboration further enriched Payer’s artistic practice by incorporating music, poetry, and live performance into her multimedia works.

As part of Jaapkore, Payer's work has garnered international recognition, including being selected for the Mixed Music Compilation 28 by Mercedes Benz Deutschland in 2009 and appearing on Deutschlandradio-kultur’s Newcomer-Werkstatt show in 2010. In 2011, Jaapkore won a spot on Radio UK International's International Showcase Hour, and their work has been showcased in prestigious publications like "Gaceta del Fondo de Cultura Económica." In 2015, Jaapkore received an award for image creation using new techniques, sound, and synthesis from the Concorso Internazionale della Galleria Globalart in Bari, Italy.

Customer Testimonials

Well, I wanted to tell you that I was traveling, and when I got back, I didn't know where to hang the artwork. After thinking about it for a long time, I decided on a spot. And well, Once it was there, I realized two things: That the painting is truly beautiful and that the location didn't matter so much; any place is a good place for it. Seriously, the artwork is beautiful.

Greetings from “Renacer” in Mexico. We've been here for almost two years now, accompanied by this beautiful creation.

I smile every single one of the 54 times I pass by the paintings during the day. I never imagined art had such power. I feel so grateful to have these works in my home, and I hope art continues to brighten many more homes.
