Ganesh Mhatre's path into the arts began with formal training — a G.D. Art (Painting) from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune, followed by an A.T.D. from Rushikesh Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya, New Panvel. His early career blended teaching and illustration: he served as a Professor of Fine Art at Khopoli Kala Mahavidyalaya in 2012, and worked as a Layout Artist & Illustrator for Maitrin and Bhatakanti magazines between 2005 and 2007.
In 2013, Ganesh established his own creative venture, Colour Art Studio, which he has run ever since, becoming the platform for his independent artistic practice.
His exhibition history reflects steady, expanding recognition. Early milestones include group shows at Jehangir Art Gallery and the Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Worli, alongside participation in the Navi Mumbai and Thana Art Festivals through the 2010s. The 2020s marked a significant creative acceleration — Ganesh took part in numerous national and international exhibitions, including the India–Russia Cultural Art Relay (2020), IndiGalleria's International Online Exhibitions, and the Kal Urja Art Exhibition (2021).
His solo exhibitions at Jahangir Art Gallery (2023) and The Reading Tree Art Gallery, Worli (2023) marked important individual milestones, followed by two acclaimed solo shows — Owning the Wave (Beyond Art Gallery, Jahangir Art Gallery, 2025) and Embodied Essence (Monalis Kalagram Art Gallery, Pune, 2025). He also represented Indian art on the global stage with a group show at World Art Dubai (2025) and participated in the Indian Art Festival, New Delhi (2025).
Beyond the canvas, Ganesh has ventured into art direction for Marathi cinema and web series, including Kunbyache Por (2020) and Jugady (2021). His work has earned him television recognition, with live demonstrations on Saam TV Marathi and Zee24Taas during Ganpati and Ashadhi Yekadashi festivals, along with the Finext International Award (2024).
Today, Ganesh continues to exhibit actively across India, most recently with group shows in New Delhi and Goa in 2026, marking two decades of sustained artistic evolution.
