Elena Parau is a prominent abstract, figurative, and impressionist painter whose vibrant and textured works explore themes of mental states, healing, and femininity. Inspired by her challenging childhood in communist Romania, where artistic expression was stifled, she strives to imbue her art with positivity and hope. Her artistic journey has been deeply influenced by her interests in psychology, spirituality, meditation, and the teachings of figures like Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, Neale Donald Walsh, and Doreen Virtue. Originally from Romania and now based in Guadalajara, Mexico, Elena is a self-taught artist with over 18 years of experience. She began selling her art internationally in 2008, building a global following. Her decision in 2014 to leave her successful banking career and embrace a life abroad, living in Rome (It), Toronto (Ca), Bogota(Co) and Guadalajara (Mx), further enriched her artistic style and broadened her perspective. Her fluency in English, Spanish, Italian, and Romanian reflects her global experiences.
Elena Parau's artistic talent has garnered international recognition, with her paintings featured in private collections across five continents and over 23 countries. She has been selected for prestigious awards, including: selected by Fabriano,Italy for the "Fabriano Watercolour" International Biennial Prize 2026, selected to be one of those 48 artists in Jalisco for World Cup FIFA 2026 “Arte y Barricas” project, the Social Art Award 2025 best 100 artists in the world, “Finale catalogue publication competition & online exhibition” Aedra Fine Arts, Atlanta, Georgia, US 2025, the Berlin Art Award 2024, Cannes Film Festival 2024, Art Basel Week 2024 y Carrousel du Louvre during the Paris Art Basel art week 2024, Trienal Tijuana Mexico 2024, by the Curatorial Council of the Florence Biennale to participate in the XIV Florence Biennale 2023 with 3 works of art, Santa Bárbara (EE. Elena has volunteered with: DIF Zapopan (auction MOM art 2026), the Bibliorefri (2025 project), the MEXI-Ha and Mi Gran Esperanza associations, spreading a message of hope and positivity through her work to children and young people with cancer in 2023.
Her work has also been featured in various publications like Maxwell Jalisco, NNC Magazine, Agora127, El Semanal, Rezpira.mx, kioskoinformativo.com, thegallerist.art Slovenia and she has given interviews on radio and television programs, in Mexico and other International platforms, further cementing her status as a rising star in the art world.
Elena has given talks to: students at the Zapopan School of Drawing and Painting (June 2024), and students at the Tecolotlán Regional High School, Juchitlán Campus (November 2024).
In 2025, she debuted as a poet and writer, winning awards and sharing her powerful words written during her adolescence.
