Anjon Bose is a multidisciplinary artist with 25 years of experience, whose powerful expressionist and figurative paintings emerge from a deep engagement with socio-ecological themes. His work explores the transformative potential of art, creating immersive experiences that resonate with audiences through a unique blend of visual art, theatre, and performance. Inspired by the crises and complexities of the human condition, Bose’s art delves into the interplay between individual experiences and the wider world.
Bose's artistic foundation was solidified through formal training at prestigious institutions. He earned a National Diploma in Art and Book Illustration from Shankar’s Academy in 1998, followed by a B.F.A. from the College of Art, Delhi in 2000. He furthered his academic pursuits with an M.A. in History of Art from the National Museum Institute in 2006 and recently qualified as a Drama and Art Therapist from Reed U.K. in 2023. His early career included voluntary work as a set designer, director, and actor with Sansaptak, an NGO dedicated to art and theatre.
Throughout his career, Bose has designed and directed over 100 projects with Sansaptak. His critically acclaimed productions, including "Na Hanayate" – a play centered on the freedom struggle – and "Garbh," an interpretation of Sam Shepherd's "Buried Child," have earned national recognition and festival selections. "Macbeth," another of his directorial ventures, also garnered accolades and a spot at the Kala Ghoda Festival. His contributions extend to stage design for productions like "Bitongsho Bedona." Beyond his artistic endeavors, Bose has dedicated his career to art education, mentoring students at middle school, high school, and graduate levels. He also served as an Art Education Facilitator for numerous institutions such as Rai University, Tagore International School, and the National Gallery of Modern Art.
